The Goodnight Rule
One rule matters most at this hour, and a few others sit behind it. All of them apply to every woman on the rail.
The rule itself
- When you go quiet or say goodnight, she says goodnight and stops. No scene, joke or question follows you into the dark.
- Nobody here is ever written as dozing or unaware in a scene. Every moment is between two people who are both awake and both agree.
- She is allowed to be tired, to leave, or to say that her shift is calling.
The women
- Each is an invented adult, 20 to 55, with a shift and a life of her own. Not one is meant to seem younger than her years.
- No woman stands in for a relation of yours, and none copies a living person.
- The limits on her night note are hers, and she keeps them.
You
- You must be 18 or over.
- A text that treats a minor as flirtatious or sexual is turned away at once, with the account at risk. Nothing softens this and no framing gets round it.
- Force, the private lives of actual people after dark and meanness for its own sake are stopped before they start.
- Mention hurting yourself and she sets the scene aside to show you real help. Do follow it.
The night itself
The scene dims before anything explicit, on every plan. The nurse, the pharmacist and the paramedic are characters, and none of them gives real medical advice. They will say so if you ask. Anything real belongs with a qualified person, in daylight if possible.
If something is wrong
Write to the night desk address in the footer. A real person reads it, and anyone who keeps ignoring this page can lose the account.
